THE racehorse, a disabled boy and the unbreakable, unspeakable bond they have formed will have its final chapter on Saturday.
Cody's Wish provided a tear-jerking success at last year's Breeders' Cup - and he's back again this year for his last ever race.
If you haven't heard the story then grab a tissue and get ready for what follows, because it is bound to be made into a Hollywood film one day.
This magical tale starts with Cody Dorman, a disabled boy confined to a wheelchair.
He was born with Wolf-Hirschhorn syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that robs a person of their ability to walk or speak.
Indeed, Cody wasn't supposed to live past two… and even now as a 17-year-old he has to communicate using a tablet.

But five years ago, his life changed.
Cody, while on a Make-A-Wish trip to Godolphin’s Gainsborough Farm, bumped into an unnamed foal with whom he immediately built a connection.
Kelly Dorman, Cody's dad, was with him that day.
The mare Dance Card came over to say hello to those on the tour of the stables.

She trotted over with her new foal, who was at that time unnamed.
As soon as Cody and the foal met they formed a bond that left everyone there awestruck.
Danny Mulvihill, farm manager at Gainsborough, relived the encounter to the LA Times.
He said: "The foal just came out and took a look at the wheelchair and Cody, and took a second look and inched closer and never gave us a cause for concern.
"And he just kept inching closer until his nose was right there.

"He was nuzzling Cody’s hand and then his head went into Cody’s lap.
"Every part of this story has come together and fallen into place from the word go and could have gone several different directions at any one time.
"But for everything to keep lining up and ending up where it has now, you cannot script that.
"You cannot write this kind of stuff."
Someone will try one day because what has happened since has defied belief.
Not a great deal was expected of Cody's Wish the racehorse.
But he has gone onto become one of the best horses in the world, winning ten of his 15 races and $2.5million.
The story will end on Saturday in Santa Anita when Cody's Wish, a five-year-old, will attempt to win the Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile for the second year in a row.
He is the odds-on fav and everyone will be praying for a fairytale send off.
If he does do it, it will be a repeat of last year, when there wasn't a dry eye left in Keeneland.
But everyone knows the result is secondary.
What really matters is this most incredible bond between boy and beast that transcends disability, sport and just about everything else.
Cody will be in Santa Anita to cheer on his best friend.
Kelly said: "Maybe, with Cody being there, it’ll give him a little extra motivation.
"In the past, it seemed like it’s helped. I don’t know, they seem like those two speak some type of language.
