As fans of Robert De Niro know, he’s no fan of Donald Trump, that much is for certain. In the past, he has called Trump an “idiot,” a “racist,” and pretty much every other pejorative in the book. Moreover, during one speech, the only thing he said was “F*ck Trump.”

When he sat down with reporters from The Guardian recently, the longtime Hollywood actor spoke about Trump’s character and his critique wasn’t pretty. “I’m older now, and I’m just upset about what’s going on,” the 75-year-old actor remarked in a story published yesterday.

In reference to his presidential run in 2015 and 2016, at first, he was willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt, however, he became worse in De Niro’s view.

“It showed me that he’s a real racist,” and added that his background as a New Yorker hasn’t shown him anything positive about the president. De Niro believed that perhaps Trump would understand diversity as a New Yorker.

Reports surfaced before the mid-term elections that the 72-year-old president of the United States used the N-word on the set of The Apprentice a decade before he was elected as the nation’s president back in 2016 and inaugurated in 2017.

In November 2018, Trump addressed those reports and said that he has never used “racist remarks before.” As you may or may not know, Robert is actually the father of six mixed-race children and he worries how they’ll be treated by Americans under the Trump administration.

Furthermore, a child of his is gay, and Robert is worried about how he’ll manage in this political climate. When asked if he believes Trump is a “white supremacist,” De Niro instantly told them, “Yes.” Moreover, he believes Trump may become a fascist at one point.

De Niro believes that those who support Trump are not able to see that he’s supposedly a “huckster” and “scam artist.” Speaking on his supposed inclination to be a dictator, De Niro said Hitler and many other despots looked funny, just as Trump does.

As it was mentioned at the beginning of the article, De Niro has railed against the derided president many times in the past, especially in October of 2016. De Niro once said he’d like to “punch” Trump in the face.
