Last night saw the Los Angeles premiere of The Conjuring, and this movie is going to scare the holy hell out of all of us. Or at least, that’s my hope because I love a good haunted house movie. Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga play ghosthunters (er, paranormal investigators) Ed and Lorraine Warren, and this movie looks to be a serious creeper, but we’ll see how it turns out when I review it for Pajiba later this week.
Naturally, Patrick was looking all kinds of dapper at the premiere, and even though he’s not a household name yet, I suspect he has a brigade of fangirls who are happy to keep him all to themselves instead of donating him to a larger cause like, say, the Cumberbatch or Hiddleston legions. To be totally honest though, most of the appeal that I hold for Patrick comes from seeing him with his hot wife, Dagmara Dominczyk. This chick is seriously awesome, and I remember when people were going crazy over Patrick’s appearance on “Girls” where he slept with Lena Dunham’s character. People were all like, “Patrick Wilson is so hot he would never sleep with Lena Dunham.” And then Dagmara stepped up and tweeted, “Funny, his wife is a size 10, muffin top & all, & he does her just fine. Least that’s what I hear 😉” *drops mic*
Leading lady Vera Farmiga’s usual elegance was dwarfed by this relatively enormous Viktor & Rolf gown. The pattern of the skirt is interesting, but the dress is totally wearing her, and she knows it. I understand what her stylists were trying to do with a dark and dramatic dress, but this look is a total miss. Poor Vera.
Mackenzie Foy (Renesmee from Breaking Dawn) and Joey King looked so pretty and age-appropriate in their party frocks. I really think Mackenzie is going to go places one day. She’ll be the unexpected breakout star of the Stephenie Meyers universe.
I’m including a “grab all” of dudes from the premiere — including Jackson Rathbone, Scott Foley, and Cary Elwes — below. It’s nice to see Jackson get some respectable work outside of The Twilight Saga. Director James Wan looks like a baby! I’m always amused to see the dudes who make these scary movies because (aside from, say, Rob Zombie) they usually don’t look that scary IRL at all. Oh, and Rosemarie DeWitt was there with Ron Livingston. Rosemarie just gave birth to their first child in late April. I’m happy for them but still think Rob’s a douche though.
