How Prince William Will Handle Kate Middleton's Cancer Treatment

May 2024 · 2 minute read

On Friday, Kate Middleton put every conspiracy theory, rumor, and affair allegation to bed by revealing she has been diagnosed with cancer. In a clip shared to her and husband Prince William's social media accounts, Middleton revealed that she is currently in the "early stages" of "preventative chemotherapy" after her medical team found cancer cells following her abdominal surgery in January.

Middleton added that her husband, Prince William, has also been a "great source of comfort" during this difficult time. "Having William by my side is a great source of comfort and reassurance, too," she said in the short video.

For the time being, Middleton asked for privacy so that she could focus on her health. A palace spokesperson stated that Middleton will return to royal duties once she receives clearance from her doctors, per People. William, on the other hand, "will continue to balance supporting his wife and family and maintaining his official duties as he has done since the start of the year."

Aside from making a full recovery, Middleton's other priority is the couple's three children: Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis. Middleton shared that it has "taken time" for them to share the news with the young kids.

"As you can imagine, this has taken time," she explained. "It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte, and Louis in a way that’s appropriate for them and to reassure them that I’m going to be okay. As I’ve said to them, I am well and getting stronger every day by focusing on the things that will help me heal in my mind, body, and spirits."

William has continued to appear at royal engagements over the last couple of months, however, he did suddenly back out of the memorial service for his godfather King Constantine of Greece last month. At the time, the palace stated that William's absence was due to a personal matter.
