No, Dyson products aren’t cheap by anyone’s standards but Black Friday and Cyber Weekend sees plenty of the brand’s best selling items marked down steeply.

Dyson has kicked off its Black Friday sale, with once-a-year discounts on a range of vacuums, hair tools and cooling/heating devices.

Score $252 off the Airwrap multi-styler, bringing it down to just $697.

But the deal of the century with a whopping $552 off is Dyson’s latest stick vac (and the brand’s first wet-dry vacuum) – the V15s Detect Submarine Cordless Vacuum. We rarely see Dyson stick vacs on sale with this big of a discount, especially new models, so this has definitely got us excited.

Shoppers have been “extremely happy” with the two-in-one vacuum and mop, with one reviewer saying it has a “powerful, long lasting battery” and is a “breeze to use”.

“I’ve struggled to find a decent cleaner for our sandstone floors but this one wins hands down,” they posted.

TikTok user @mama_mila_ also said her “mind is blown” after using the vacuum to clean up spilt cereal.

I also personally found the clean unbelievable after testing the V15s Detect Submarine Cordless Vacuum Complete, which is basically the same unit but without the Fluffy Optic cleaner head.

“Can’t believe I waited so long to get a Dyson stick! This is a powerful unit, easy to handle, so convenient and easily cleans our entire house with oodles of battery to spare. Thumbs up,” a happy shopper posted on the Myer website.

“Definitely won’t be going back to a regular vacuum cleaner. So easy to use and all of the attachments make it great for small or large jobs. Would definitely recommend,” another raved.

It wasn’t until the ‘50s that the phrase connected itself to the shopping event. In Philadelphia in the 1950s, many tourists and shoppers came to the city the Friday following thanksgiving to watch a major football game. It’s said the ensuing mix of shoplifters, violent crowds and huge traffic jams caused the police department to dub the day Black Friday.

Black Friday is also said to represent a company’s revenue moving out of the red and into the black – or profit.
